Throughout the years I have participated in many gift swaps, both as a member and as a hostess. There is something magically satisfying by giving a gift where all of the content is put together with the one intention of making a stranger happy. And it is equally magic to experience that your day brightens because you get a gift specially made for you, from a stranger. It is all about making someone\u2019s day better! <\/p>\n

Sometimes you receive a gift that contains a real treasure. Some years ago I received a skein of Ganpi Abaku Teipu by Noro<\/a>. I actually don\u2019t think that this yarn is in production any more, but it is truly beautiful. It is made from a blend of Japanese tree bark and rayon. Its texture is like silk ribbon; it is smooth and has a lovely sheen. After receiving this wonderful gift I was eager to find the perfect project, and while reading through my favourite blogs I did. I decided to knit The Dream Swatch by Wendy Bernard. I found the free pattern on her lovely blog Knit and Tonic<\/a>, this blog is really worth a visit. <\/p>\n

I added the project to my endless list of \u201dwill-do-projects\u201d, and kept the yarn in my stash box until now when I finally got around to pick up the sticks and get going.
\nI still find the yarn beautiful but it is very stiff and smooth, and it slips of my finger and sticks very easily. Managing the technique which seemed simple enough in the beginning, turned out to be quite some work, making the knitting tedious and time demanding. I\u2019ll be very happy when it\u2019s done, and I don\u2019t think I will knit again with this type of yarn. But, my oh my, the end result will be beautiful, and I plan to give away the wrap as a gift.<\/p>\n

I l\u00f8pet av \u00e5rene har jeg deltatt i mange gaveringer, b\u00e5de som p\u00e5meldt og som vertinne. Det er noe magisk tilfredstillende ved \u00e5 gi en pakke hvis innhold du har satt sammen for \u00e5 gj\u00f8re en fremmed glad. Og det er like magisk \u00e5 oppleve at dagen din blir lysere fordi du mottar en gave spesielt satt sammen for deg, av en fremmed. Hele poenget er \u00e5 gj\u00f8re noens dag bedre!<\/p>\n

Noen ganger mottar man en gave som inneholder en skatt. For noen \u00e5r siden fikk jeg en hespe med Ganpi Abaku Teipu fra Noro<\/a>. Jeg tror faktisk ikke at dette garnet er i produksjon lengre, men det er virkelig et spesielt vakkert garn. Det er laget av en blanding av japansk trebark og rayon. Garnets tekstur er lik silkeb\u00e5nd, det er glatt og har en flott glans. Da jeg fikk dette garnet ble jeg ivrig etter \u00e5 finne det perfekte prosjektet, og n\u00e5r jeg leste igjennom favoritt bloggene mine, s\u00e5 fant jeg det. Jeg bestemte meg for \u00e5 strikke The Dream Swatch designet av Wendy Bernard. M\u00f8nsteret fant jeg p\u00e5 hennes blogg Knit and Tonic<\/a>, leser du engelsk s\u00e5 er denne bloggen virkelig verdt et bes\u00f8k. <\/p>\n

Jeg la prosjektet til min endel\u00f8se \u201cskal-strikke-senere\u201d-liste, og garnet havnet blant resten av st\u00e6sjet. Og der har det ligget frem til n\u00e5 hvor jeg endelig fikk anledning til \u00e5 sette i gang. Jeg syns fremdeles at garnet er usedvanlig vakkert, men det er glatt og stivt, og det sklir lett av fingre og pinner. Det \u00e5 f\u00e5 til teknikken, som i utgangspunktet virket enkel nok, viste seg \u00e5 bli ganske arbeidsomt. Selve strikkingen blir derfor ganske kjedelig og langtekkelig. Jeg kommer til \u00e5 v\u00e6re kjempeglad n\u00e5r jeg endelig blir ferdig, og jeg kommer nok neppe til \u00e5 strikke med denne type garn igjen. Men, sluttresultatet blir vakkert, og jeg har tenkt \u00e5 gi bort skjerfet i gave<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
